Wesley Soccer Alumni Game - Happy 15 Years

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 ~ Share ~ View Comments
This years Alumni Game will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Wesley College Women's Soccer. The programs first game was September 2, 1995 against St. John's College, MD...Yes we won and No it was not quality soccer. We finished that season 9-4...with a practice field in the softball outfield and a game field that had more dirt than grass...the program has come a long way. When the program started, Wesley did not belong to an athletic conference. Now is a member of the Capital Athletic Conference, one of the best conferences in the nation. That dirt field is now the 1.5 million Scott D. Miller Stadium (FieldTurf)...plus we have one of the top locker room facilities in all of Division III Athletics. Over the past 15 years, I will always remember the players that made all this possible and the memories we shared.

The game will take place August 29th at noon. Clean off those old soccer boots and come out with the family. Alumni...Please let us know if you coming by clicking here.

What's your academic major and how are you able to manage both soccer and your school work?

Sports Management...I am able to manage both with using a planner. I wrote down when all of our games are and when I have a test, project, or assignment due and I write it down. Then I plan times during the week when I am going to work on what assignment.

How do you feel about the upcoming 2009 season?

Very excited for a new beginning with all the new players!

What's in your IPOD right now?

Everything and anything..lots of country, dance, hip hop, rap..Last played song was "I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas

When and Why did you start playing soccer?

I was 5 years old..i actually quit for one season to try softball and decided that was too boring so I went back to soccer and played every since. My mom always loved soccer and my dad played soccer all his life and played on the Semi-pro futbol team in Colombia so I guess their passion is what drove me to start playing.

What club team did you play for prior to attending Wesley?

Hagerstown Freedom 88

What are your thoughts about England/Scotland Tour 2010?

I can not wait! It will be really cool to see the soccer/futbol environment over there and how it compares to the US.

What do you think about the New state of the art Wesley Soccer Team Room?

Amazing! Hopefully we can get that Wii in there soon! I would say every other team is jealous.

What do you love about Wesley Soccer?

It gives everyone the opportunity to grow as a leader and prepares you to be a stronger person.

What inspirational quote means the most to you?

"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look at what they can do when they stick together." - Vesta Kelly
