Finals Week!

The seniors awards baquet is over and finals week is almost complete. This is the point of the year when all I can think about is the upcoming soccer season...the start of another journey! The entire coaching staff has worked long hours and were excited about the players that have committed to Wesley Soccer. When a student-athlete commits to Wesley College and the Women’s Soccer Family, that commitment means a great deal to the entire coaching staff. With the talented group of players returning and the new class of recruits, 2009 looks to be another exciting season for Wesley Soccer!

Preseason Scrimmage Announced!

Dover, Del. – The Wesley College Women’s Soccer program announced today that they will travel to Baltimore, MD on August 26th for a preseason match with Goucher College. Kick-Off time will be 7:00pm!

The Wolverines will open up their season on September 1st at Haverford College, PA.

Wolverines Announce Team Captains

Dover, Del. - Wesley College Head Coach Ed Muntz announced that Sara Gergen (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) and Jessie Nino (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) have been named team captains for the 2009 season.

Sara Gergen is coming off another quality season, where she has anchored the Wolverine defense for the last two seasons. Sara is a two-year starter who has shown tremendous leadership on and off the soccer field. Jessie Nino will lead the Wolverine attack, which finished 13th nationally in scoring offense during her freshman year (3.67 goals per game). Jessie currently sits 9th in all-time scoring at Wesley with 17 goals, 8 assists, 42 points and will look to guide a young Wolverine squad.

“Both Sara and Jessie are quality student-athletes that represent the strong traditions of our program. With only nine players returning from last years team, I look forward to watching them lead our young team,” said Coach Muntz.

The Wolverines open up their 2009 campaign on September 1st at Haverford College, PA.

Bogan and Defelice Join The Easter Bunny

Dover, Del. - The Wesley College Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered at the City of Dover Easter Egg Hunt (Dover Park) over the weekend. Women’s Soccer players Brielle Bogan and Julia DeFelice took part in the annual event which was open to all children in the city of Dover.
